Tamang Heritage Trek starts from the quaint village of Syabrubesi after the cultural tour of Kathmandu valley to the heritages of Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath Stupas and the architectural excellence of Patan Durbar Square. Moving ahead from the village of Syabrubesi we traverse through the villages of Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure and Briddim, Lama Hotel, Langtang village, and Kyanjin Gompa before we put an end to our trek in Syabrubesi and then travel to Kathmandu. Exploring through the local Tamang monastery and serene lake at Gatlang, the natural healer of hot spring at Tatopani, homestay facility at Briddim with the warm hospitality of the Tamang community, we reach the Langtang village past the Lama Hotel. The narrow lush valley at Langtang displays exceptional cultural diversity and well-preserved ensembles of their rich traditional heritage. We trail back through the initial route to call it a day at Syabrubesi. En route the short trek, we savor the Tamang rituals, Tibetan superstitions, colorful festivals, local dances and costumes, Tibetan influenced architecture, locally made handicrafts, unique flora and fauna, alpine terrains, lush green dales, and rhododendron forest with the silver mountains shining in the background.

On your arrival at the Tribhuvan International airport, the representative of Destination Himalaya treks gives you a warm welcome in the adventurous Himalayan country Nepal.
We initiate Tamang Heritage Trek as we drive early in the morning from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi on a bus through scenic villages and landscapes. Overnight stay at a local tea house.
Today we will head towards Tamang village in Gatlang. After having our breakfast, we leave behind Syabrubesi and slowly awesome views of the Himalayas including the Ganesh Himal range and others start to appear. Then we cross Goljang and arrive at Tamang village of Gatlang where we get plenty of cultural exploration opportunities of their traditions and cultures with a visit to their home and interacting with them. They offer warm hospitality for visitors that you would surely love to experience. Overnight stay at community lodge.
Our day starts with our breakfast and it will be a little challenging today, as it will be the longest day of this trek. Near the chili village, we slowly descend alongside the Bhotekoshi river and stop for our lunch. We can view local hydropower projects and dams built over there. After getting energy from our lunch, we ascend towards Tatopani crossing suspension bridges. Upon arrival at the natural hot spring of ‘Tatopani’ or ‘hot water', you are allowed to immerse in it for relaxation and regain freshness around the foothills of surrounding mountains. There is also a popular belief that anyone who gets dipped in this hot spring gets healed from aches and pains. Overnight stay at a local lodge.
Today, following our trails of Tamang Heritage Trek, we ascend towards nagathali danda from where beautiful sceneries are on offer. Then we slowly descend towards Thuman, where we will be accompanied by joyful local inhabitants who mostly belong to the Tamang community. Overnight stay at a lodge.
On this day further we leave behind Thuman and descend towards Timure. Following the natural route of the Tamang Heritage Trails, it offers us lots of natural and cultural exploration opportunities
We will be walking for a day towards Rasuwagadhi which is near the Tibetan border. And we return towards Timure for an overnight stay.
Briddim is another Tibetan-influenced Buddhist village situated at the foothills of the Himalayas. There are plenty of monasteries and we can see the local homes built of stones and local materials that impress us with their simplicity and cultural, and historical significance. We visit their home and get close to their local rituals, traditions, and festivals too.
After having our early meal, we descend towards Syabrubesi and enjoy the rest of the day. Overnight stay at lodge in Syabrubesi.
Today is the final day of our trek as we conclude our Tamang Heritage Trek and return to the capital city of Kathmandu. Farewell dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Accommodation
During the Langtang region trek, teahouses or guesthouses are the means of accommodation that are basic but comfortable. The room with an attached bathroom in the lower regions and room sharing at the peak seasons and in the higher regions. One must pay an extra charge for the use of Wi-Fi, charging electronic devices, hot water buckets, and laundry.
Meals
The 3-course full meals are served during the entire trek in the Langtang region. The meals are simple but with good energy portions for the trekkers to trek. Nepali Dal-Bhat is a good energy source for trekkers. Besides this, noodles, soups, fresh green vegetables, hot tea, etc. are served. It is always a good idea to carry some light snacks and choco bars with you.
Drinking water
Drinking water in the Langtang region is easily available. One can fill up the water at the teahouses paying an extra amount or purchase bottled water. It is convenient to carry a water bottle and water purifying kits for safety.
Communication
The internet connectivity and phone networks are stable in the lower regions whereas it is hard to find the networks in the higher Langtang region. For the use of Wi-Fi, pay an additional charge at the teahouses or purchase a local sim with a data pack. And for emergencies, there is a satellite phone facility.
Transport
The Langtang region is located just north of Kathmandu, and the best way to get there is to take a bus or private jeep from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The bus fare costs approx. NPR 800-1000. Whereas a private jeep fare costs slightly higher than a local bus. If one wants a comfortable ride, opt for a jeep ride.

Best Time to trek
The best time to go on a trek in the Langtang region is from September to November (Autumn season) and from March to May (Spring Season). During this time, the weather is dry and the skies are clear. The rainy season (June-July) is quite riskier as the trails are muddy and slippery. During the winter (December to February), this region gets very cold, and snow covers the higher parts of the trek. Many of the guesthouses actually close up for the winter and re-open in late February to March. However, it is possible to trek the Langtang region on the fringe of the season in late February/early March and it can be quite beautiful with snow cover.

Travel Insurance
Langtang region is a high-altitude trek. The region is mostly remote with off-beat and rough trails. Travel Insurance is very essential for this region. Travel Insurance must cover all medical emergencies, flight cancelations, emergency evacuations, loss of luggage, and altitudes over 3000 m.

Langtang Region Trek Difficulty
The Langtang region trek is moderately difficult. The trails are least developed, off-beat, and rough. There are several ascend and descend which makes it tougher for trekkers to trek. Besides this, high elevations, change in climate, and unavailability of all major facilities are other factors that make this trek difficult. But, with proper planning and assistance before the start of the trek, this Langtang region trek is possible. We recommend you participate in exercises, day hikes, and physical training months before starting the trek. Also, take necessary health tests before trekking to high altitudes. Acclimatization and Altitude Sickness
Acclimatization rest is necessary during trekking. So, try to properly utilize the acclimatization rest days and do some short hikes and explore nearby places. It helps prevent altitude sickness and adapt to the environment. Altitude sickness in the mountains is normal. It can happen to anyone. By acknowledging its symptoms and with accurate preventive guidelines, altitude sickness can be cured.
