Simikot Limi Valley Trek also provides the opportunity of exploring the starting point of the longest river in Nepal named (Humla) Karnali. The valley is cultivated by Tibetan origin people who have their language, tradition, and culture based on Tibetan roots.
Simikot Limi Valley Trek has its finest beauty with a variety of forests, wildlife, and birds. The region is full of flora and fauna including rare animals and birds like wild yak, wild horse, wolf, black bear, barking deer, musk deer, blue sheep, marmot, hare, and occasionally snow leopard too. Being the district headquarters of the Jumla district, the valley is still remote due to its geographical remoteness. There is no direct means of transportation from Kathmandu to Jumla till now.
Simikot Limi Valley Trek offers the finest scenery throughout the journey. The villages in the valley named Til and Halji are mostly dependent upon livestock. The people’s daily activity is to graze the animals on the plateau. Few of them are engaged in the trade too. All in all, trekking through Simikot Limi Valley Trek gives the everlasting experience of virgin land traveling to the border of Tibet. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International airport, the representative of Destination Himalaya treks gives you warm welcome in the adventurous Himalayan country Nepal. Then, transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Enjoy a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj which is of about 1 hour. Nepalgunj is a beautiful town in the Terai region which is also the gateway to Humla. If possible take a flight to Jumla or else spend a day exploring this city. First transfer to the hotel for rest. Later, visit the mini-zoo, local market, and nearby places. Overnight in a hotel.
After breakfast, we fly to Simikot enjoying a short scenic flight. We meet other members and prepare for the next day’s trek. Spend the day visiting nearby places, interacting with the locals, and enjoying the local food. Overnight stay.
The trek starts with a downhill walk traversing the Humla Karnali river. Walk through the pine trees forested trail and pass some villages and suspension bridges to reach Dharapuri. Overnight stay.
Pass through the stunning Chaya Chahara waterfall and ascend the trail passing several settlements. Adore the views and keep on walking until Kermi. Visit Lhundrup Choling Gompa where the aura is very peaceful. Overnight stay.
Walk on the trail which is full of ascend and descend. Traverse the suspension bridge over Salli Khola and keep on walking enjoying the picturesque views. Arrive at Yalbang for an overnight stay.
The altitude is rising so walk slowly. Walk on ascending trail and pass Yangar village. Cross a wooden bridge and ascend to the trail admiring the surrounding greenery. Traverse Muchu and arrive at Tumkot. Visit the ancient Rinchenling Gompa. Overnight stay.
Walk on a steep trail and climb uphill adoring the beautiful landscapes. Traverse the villages of Pani Palbang, Yari East, and Yari West and arrive at Yari. Overnight stay.
A tough day to trek as we traverse Nara La which is at an elevation of 4620m. So, walk gradually and from the Nara La, and enjoy the breathtaking views of Mt. Kailash and surrounding peaks. Capture the beautiful moments and slowly descend. Walk further and reach Hilsa. Overnight stay.
Traverse a bridge and walk on the off-beat trail enjoying the breathtaking views of peaks throughout the way. Overnight stay.
Walk on a steep rocky trail for a few hours and arrive at Limi valley. Another beautiful valley that is abundant with beautiful landscapes with the backdrop of breathtaking mountains. The locals of this region are of Tibetan origin and they follow ancient Tibetan religions. It is very well-preserved. Walking through the juniper forest on a rocky path trail head towards the beautiful Til village. En-route visit the Ya Yip Phuk medication cave which is ancient and historically significant. Pass through Lamka La (4300 m) and slowly descend to Til for an overnight stay.
Walk on the rocky trail and pass the Limi river upstream. Walk on the trail adoring the natural beauty and arrive at Halji. The small beautiful village inhabited by Bhotia who practice Tibetan Buddhism. Overnight stay.
Exploring the beautiful surroundings walk past the Limi river bank. Arrive at Jang which is also the last village of Limi valley. Overnight stay.
Leave the Limi valley and trek further by ascending and traversing many wooden bridges. Arrive at Talung for an overnight stay.
The interesting day of the trek as we head towards Nyalu La which is the highest part of the trek. It is at an elevation of 4949m. Ascend slowly and from here witness the breathtaking views of Mt. Saipal, Api, Byas Rishi, Kanjirowa, Kailash, and other Tibetan peaks. The beautiful valley view from the top is mesmerizing. Slowly descend to Shinjungma for an overnight stay.
Walk on a comfortable trail and descend along with Salli Khola. Walk past pine trees forested trail and keep on continuing until Kermi. For relaxation, enjoy a natural Hotspring bath. Overnight stay.
We retrace the same trail and pass Dharapuri and Majgaon adoring the beautiful vistas for one last time. Reach Simikot for an overnight stay.
We take a short flight to Nepalgunj from Jumla. Then, as the flight schedule we fly to Kathmandu. Until the next flight to Kathmandu, explore nearby places. Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. Take a rest and in the evening join us for a farewell cultural dinner. Overnight in a hotel.

Accommodation and Duration
Accommodations in the Simikot Limi Valley Trek are mostly tent camps and in a few parts there are teahouses or guesthouses. The trek duration is of 19 days including arrival in Kathmandu to departure from the International Airport. But, from the starting point to the end point, the actual trek duration is 14 days. For the accommodation, the best quality tents for the kitchen, dining sleeping, & toilets, a gas stove for cooking meals & necessary cooking utensils, towels, hand wash soaps, toilet papers, and dining chairs & tables for eating are provided. The facilities are basic but the assurance of providing qualitative equipment makes the trip experience memorable. Besides, tented camps, rest days are spent in the best hotels with maximum facilities.
Meals
During the camping treks, three-course full meals are provided, and only breakfast during your stay in the hotels. The experienced chef prepares healthy and hygienic food with high nutritional values to keep us energized throughout the trek. The staple diet of Nepali dal-bhat, vegetable curry, soups, eggs, bread, jam, porridge, herbal tea, ginger tea, coffee, noodles, seasonal vegetables, salads, etc., are served. You can enjoy continental cuisine during your stay in hotels and near city areas.
Drinking water
Drinking water is easily available. You can drink directly from taps or streams. If you feel uncomfortable or have some doubts, fill the water in your bottle. And, apply purification treatment using water purification tablets or devices. Don’t forget to bring water purification tablets, and a sustainable water bottle. Having your water bottle helps in minimizing the wastage of plastic water bottles.

The starting point of the Simikot Limi Valley Trek is from Simikot and ends in Simikot. From Simikot, take a flight to Nepalgunj and from Nepalgunj return to Kathmandu via plane.

Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance is compulsory while traveling. It acts as a safety guard against possible emergencies. Any happenings during the trek are the clients’ sole responsibility. Therefore, have travel insurance that covers all medical emergencies, helicopter rescue, air ambulance, flight cancelations, loss/theft of luggage, personal expenses, cover repatriation, evacuations, and altitude sickness. Do carry a copy of your travel insurance and also send a copy to us for making the necessary arrangements in case of emergencies.
Best time to trek Simikot Limi Valley
Spring and Autumn seasons are the best time to trek Simikot Limi Valley trek. The weather is clear and sunny during these seasons. The trail is also comfortable to walk. Rainy and Winter season treks are for experienced trekkers. The trails are muddy and slippery and the weather is unpredictable. Only a few adventurous trekkers dare to trek during these seasons. We recommend you plan carefully if you want to trek during the off-season.
Simikot Limi Valley Trek Difficulty
The trail is off-beat and remote. It consists of several ascends, descends, and rough paths, so it is a bit tough to trek. So, it is better to consult the doctor before starting the trek and perform all check-ups and take necessary actions. We suggest you take some physical exercises in different forms like swimming, cycling, running, day hiking, etc. for months before Simikot Limi Valley Trek. Although the trek is tough, we assure you that the itinerary is planned with proper rest days which helps to complete the trek smoothly. Thus, trekkers must be physically fit and in good health condition before starting Simikot Limi Valley Trek.
Acclimatization and Altitude Sickness at Simikot Limi Valley Trek
Acclimatization or rest days are quintessential during trekking. So, in between the treks, upon reaching your daily destinations acclimatize properly. It is very necessary to prevent altitude sickness and adjust to higher altitudes.

Primary: Headache, nausea, gasping, appetite & sleep loss, dizziness, fatigue, vomiting

Luggage limitation for Porter
The luggage limitation depends on the trek duration and maximum altitude gain. Normally, one porter carries the luggage of two trekkers. The luggage limitation per person is a maximum of 15 kg. All arrangements are made considering the health of the porters.
