One of the most challenging ‘trekking peaks in the Everest region, Lobuche East Peak Climbing takes you to one of the most exciting peak climbing experiences. Considered more challenging than the famed Mera Peak or Island Peak, it requires greater commitment and sound technicalities of peak climbing. Lobuche East Peak is usually ascended from the southeast ridge. The trip to this formidable mountain also offers you the opportunity to travel around through the cultural diversities, lush vegetation, Sherpa villages, flora, and fauna, strong evidence of the faith of locals in Buddhism as displayed through the monasteries, prayer flags, and prayer wheels. On the Lobuche East Peak Climbing trek, you shall be amazed at the breathtaking view of numerous snow-laden peaks including Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (8201), Makalu (8463m), Ama Dablam (6812m) and panoramic view of the Everest region, better than any other trekking peak in the region, from the summit of Lobuche East Peak (6119m).
Designed with ample time for acclimatization, Lobuche East Peak Climbing starts with the trek from the gateway of the Everest region, Lukla. From Lukla, the real exercise starts with the trek to the village of Phakding after a scenic flight to Lukla. We traverse through the Sherpa hub of Namche Bazaar, the cultural hotspots of Tengboche and Dingboche, Kalapatthar (the viewpoint providing the most enchanting view of Everest), and the lap of the Mount Everest or Everest Base Camp before we reach the vicinity of the Lobuche peak. This shall follow ascending to our destination of the Lobuche summit. With enough days spent at a considerable altitude, the trekkers must have no problem acclimatizing to the altitude. We trail back through Pangboche (the highest Sherpa village), Namche Bazaar, and Lukla before returning to Kathmandu. The cultural ensembles on the trail, the unique Sherpa lifestyle, the side trek around the acclimatization spots, the natural scenic beauty, glaciers and rivers, flora and fauna, and dense forests shall further enrich our trip.

On your arrival at the Tribhuvan International airport, the representative of Destination Himalaya treks gives you warm welcome in the adventurous Himalayan country Nepal. Transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Around 45 minutes flight, early in the morning we take a scenic flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla. From Lukla, we start our trek and head to Phakding. We cross the Chaurikharka village and climb down to Dudh Koshi River and follow the bank of the river in the valley. Unnamed vegetation and seasonal flowers, pine forests, and wild animals with kept animals will be the major attraction of the trekking trail of Phakding. We finally ascend to Phakding. There we also visit the Monastery. The centuries-old monasteries around Phakding add to the beauty of the village. Overnight in Phakding.
Crossing the suspension bridge and walking on the bank of Dudh Koshi will be the usual activity of your trekking. Moreover, your encounter with the Benkar village and the superb views of Mr. Thamserku from Benkar village is really spectacular. The Monjo is the entrance of the world’s highest national park, “The Sagarmatha national park”. Namche bazaar is situated at more high altitude than Sagarmatha national park, it lies at 3440m. In the national park, we can see various flora and fauna. There we can also see various rare wild animals like Red pandas, snow leopards, wild boar, etc., and birds too. Overnight in Namche.
Namche is the first acclimatization place of our trekking. Namche bazaar is famous for many things. Most of the government offices lie in Namche. Furthermore, it is the doorway to the total Everest region. Namche bazaar is surrounded by snowy peaks and mountains, which can be seen from the various hotels stated in Namche. Tourist visitor centers, and long old monasteries, are the attraction of Namche. Email-internet, ATMs, glossary shops, bakeries, and restaurants, are easily available in Namche bazaar. We take a rest at Namche bazaar visiting the surrounding places. Namche is the Sherpa village where we can interact with them and get knowledge of their culture and lifestyle. On this day, we also visit another Sherpa village Khumjung near Namche. There we also visit the Buddhist monastery. Overnight in Namche.
After one day’s acclimatization in Namche, this day we continue our trek after breakfast. For some time, we walk on the plain path to Kenjoma through the forest enjoying the panoramic views of the mountains like Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Thamserku, and Lhotse. From Kenjoma we trek down to the small settlement of Phortse Tenga where we take lunch. Then we climb to Tengboche, a Sherpa village with the world’s highest monastery. There we visit the monastery and interact with the Buddhist monks and nuns. From there we see the excellent panorama of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Thamserku. Overnight in Namche.
Today, we descend downhill to Douche with the scene of uncountable rhododendrons. We cross the suspension bridge that lies over the Imja Khola. We walk through the valley to Pangboche. On the way, we see Mani stone walls. We finally climb up to Dingboche where we stay overnight. Still, you can see the close-up view of Aba Dablam. Overnight in Dingboche.
From Dingboche, we walk on a gradually ascending path with a view of Mt. Tawache, Nuptse, Ama Dablam as well as Pokalde. We can see Pheriche village from Dingboche. Then we climb down to Pheriche village and head to Dughla. We cross the bridge on the Khumbu glacier and then we continue walking up a steep hill and finally reach Lobuche. Overnight in Lobuche.
This day we achieve our goal of putting our foot on the Everest base camp. From Lobuche, we walk up a rocky moraine path with a view of the Khumbu glacier. Then we descend to Gorakshep where we take lunch. Then we head to Everest base camp. At Everest base camp, we stay for some time to observe the view of the surrounding mountains like Nuptse, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, etc. Then, we return back to Gorakshep where we stay overnight.
This day in the morning we hike to Kalapatthar to view a panorama of Mt. Everest. Kalapatthar is the perfect vantage point of the Everest region for Mountain View. From there, we observe the panoramic view of Mt. Everest and other mountains of the Everest region li. Lhotse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Khumbets. Nuptse, Mt. Thamserku, etc. Then we return to Gorakshep. There we take lunch and then return to Lobuche via the same route. Overnight in Lobuche.
Walk on a plain surface for a few distances. Then, the trail to the base camp gets steep. Climb slowly on a rocky trail. Walk along the Lobuche Glacier admiring the stunning views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Cholatse, etc. Rest for a while upon reaching the Lobuche Base Camp. Have lunch and learn to use climbing techniques, use of proper equipment, & gear from our experts. The short training helps to boost confidence and increase the knowledge of proper use of technical tools. Overnight in a tented camp.
Walk for some hours on a steep trail passing rocky moraine. As we climb up, the altitude rises so walk gradually. Upon reaching High Camp, take a rest and have lunch. Walk around to adjust to the surroundings. Overnight in a tented camp.
Today is the main day to climb Lobuche Peak. Start early to reach the summit before midday as the wind gets stronger. A gradual but steady walk using proper gear climb uphill. Upon reaching the Lobuche East peak summit, get panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and others. Create some memories and take some pictures. Slowly descend and follow the same route back to base camp for an overnight stay.
Walk on an easy trail descending to Lobuche. Have lunch and adore the views & continue to trek to Pangboche. Pass through the beautiful settlements of Pheriche and walk through the forested trail of rhododendron and juniper trees. Arrive at Pangboche. Later visit the oldest Pangboche monastery in the Everest region. Overnight in Pangboche.
On this day, we return to Namche bazaar via Pangboche. We walk uphill and downhill through the forest of Rhododendron to Tengboche where we take lunch. From Tengboche, we again descend to Phortse Tenga and then climb to Namche bazaar. Overnight in Namche.
This day we descend to Lukla from Namche bazaar following the Bank of the Dudh Koshi River. This is the last day of our trek; so we share our experience and enjoy singing and dancing in the evening. Overnight in Lukla.
In the morning, we fly back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day is free for you to do your own thing. As the trip has finally come to an end, you may do some souvenir shopping as a memory of the expedition. Arrange captured photographs and/or share them among other members of this expedition and celebrate the successful completion of the expedition. Later, pack your bags to return to their respective destinations. Overnight in a hotel.
Teahouses or lodges mostly operated by locals are accommodations in the Himalayas. They are simple, comfortable, and have basic facilities. One must pay an additional charge for extra facilities like hot showers, Wi-Fi, charging of electronic devices, and laundry. Trekkers must be prepared for room sharing during the peak seasons and at high altitudes. Also, there is no availability of attached bathrooms in the higher regions. Washrooms are mostly outside the teahouse or lodge. Tent camping is the accommodation in the Lobuche Base Camp and High Camp.
We provide 3 meals (breakfast, lunch. dinner) a day during the entire trek and only breakfast in Kathmandu. Simple but fresh and healthy meals are provided from the teahouses or lodges. Healthy & hygienic foods are prepared by the cook in the tent camp. Nepali Dal Bhat is a principal dish served with fresh green vegetables & curry which gives energy for 5/6 hours a day. Noodles, soup, bread, roti, Sherpa stew, and hot drinks are also available as well. You can enjoy continental dishes at Namche at your expense.
Pure and fresh drinking water is abundant in the Himalayas. One can drink the natural freshwater stream directly from the Himalayas. Or fill up the boiled water in a water bottle in the teahouses paying an additional charge. Always carry water purifying solutions for proper water treatment and to be safe. Drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated to prevent altitude sickness.
All over the Everest region, Everest Link’s Wi-Fi card is the internet provider. So, internet connectivity is easily available throughout the lower regions. Purchase a card to use it and the connection is stable. Mobile Network is also stable in the lower regions. You can also purchase a Sim and use mobile data from it. In higher altitudes, internet connectivity and mobile network are unstable. By paying an extra charge, one can also use the Wi-Fi facility from the teahouses/lodges.
The starting point for any trekking or climbing in the Everest region is Lukla. Pass through the villages of Phakding, Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche from Lukla to reach Lobuche East Peak Base Camp and High Camp. Trekkers start the Lobuche East Peak Climbing from the base of High Camp.

Lobuche East Peak is Group B peak classified by ‘Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA)’. In the Himalayas, environmental pollution has been a huge concern. To preserve the environment from our side, NMA charges a USD 500 Garbage Deposit Fee. As per the rules and regulations of NMA, the fee is refundable.
Travel Insurance is a must for Lobuche Peak climbing. It is a safety net and safeguards unforeseen emergencies. It must cover all emergency evacuation, medical extremities, luggage loss/theft, flight cancellations, altitude above 4000m, etc. Be sure to get travel insurance from a trusted insurance agency.

Spring and Autumn seasons is the suitable time to climb Lobuche Peak as it is very challenging. It is also best to climb in the peak seasons from the point of safety and admire the outstanding views. Winter season is considered risky and only a few adventurous dares to climb. The summer season is the least preferable compared to peak seasons. Overall, the spring season is suitable to climb followed by the autumn season. The permit cost as per season are listed below:
Lobuche East Peak is classified as a Group B climbing peak by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). Peak climbing is not a piece of cake and is a Herculean task. It is very tough but also rewarding. One requires 100% commitment and technical skills in mountaineering before climbing the peak. Lobuche Peak is usually ascended from the southeast ridge. One needs to have a high level of fitness, and be familiar with the equipment, gears, and proper use &setting up with the gears in the mountains. It is essential for everyone’s safety. Undoubtedly, it is challenging but with the proper assistance and guidance of expert guides, climbing Lobuche Peak is attainable. Hence, we recommend you participate in exercises, and physical training months before starting the actual climbing. Also, take necessary health tests before peak climbing. Altitude sickness in mountains above the altitude of 3000m is common. Thus, acclimatization rest days are scheduled at Namche and Dingboche to adapt to the altitude and prevent altitude sickness. The trek starts from Lukla (2800m) and the altitude rises to the Lobuche East Peak summit (6,119m) during the Lobuche Peak climbing.
