Jomsom Muktinath is a moderate romantic trek in the lower Mustang region. This trek takes you to the barren landscapes of the Mustang region which is also called the deserted land of Nepal. Mustang region is one of the best trekking destinations in Nepal where trekkers want to go frequently because of its natural and cultural beauty. Several artistic geographical figures in Mustang catch the eye of everyone. The absence of rain and the mountains seen at back are the prominent feature of the Mustang. In Mustang, there are many villages of Tibetan Buddhists and Thakalis rich in their old preserved culture, systems, traditions, customs, rituals, festivals, religion, and way of life which are central attractions of the trekkers.
Jomsom Muktinath trekking starts from Jomsom and takes 3 hours to reach the monastery village Kagbeni. On the way, trekkers complete the romantic journey by walking through the world’s deepest gorge Kaligandaki located between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains. Muktinath is one of the important pilgrimage sites of both Hindu and Buddhist people. Hindu people believe that their great lord Vishnu got salvation from the curse in the form of Shaligrams in Muktinath. So, Hindu people around the world gathered in the Muktinath temple to take a holy bath to get salvation from their past sins. There are lots of attractive things in Muktinath such as the Ancient Muktinath temple, Mukti Kunda, 108 water sprouts, holy fire, monasteries, and Gompas. Every year in August full moon day, the great bathing festival of Hindus and the Yartung festival of Thakalis are held in Muktinath. So if the trekkers want to know some important aspects of these festivals they can go for the Muktinath trek in August.
