Chulu west base camp is located in a small valley, north of Manang. From its base camp, you climb the rock band with some difficulty to the northwest shoulder of Chulu west where another camp can be established on a snow plateau above 5,530m. On the first ascent and several subsequent ascents rope was fixed on the rock band. From the plateau continue up the progressively narrowing ridge until you reach the summit.

The Chulu West Peak climbing journey starts from Syange after a 7/8 hrs bus journey from Kathmandu. From Syange, it follows the main trail of the Annapurna circuit and reaches Ledar and from Ledar it reaches Chulu west base camp. From its base camp, the journey finally reaches Chulu west summit. Chulu west's summit offers heart-taking and eye-pleasing views of beautiful mountains such as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Ganesh Himal, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, and Tilicho peaks can be seen. After appreciating the beautiful mountains and other natural scenes from its summit, returns to Thorong Phedi and joins the Annapurna main circuit, and ends in Jomsom.

The journey to Syange begins after breakfast. Enjoy the ride view of the natural scenery and reach Besisahar. Have lunch and take a ride on the rough road passing Bhulbhule, and Bahundanda and drive along the Marshyangdi river and arrive at Syange. Overnight in Syange.
The trek journey starts from Syange. Walk through the pine and oak forest descending alongside the Marshyangdi river. Pass through the beautiful Jagat village enjoying the stunning views of the Annapurna ranges. Arrive at Tal for an overnight stay.
The amazing scenery on the trail amazes everyone. Enjoying the scenery, pass the villages like Karte, and Dharapani. Then, an uphill climb for a few hours takes us to Bagarchhap. Get a glimpse of the lovely mountains of Lamjung and Annapurna II. Overnight in Bagarchhap.
Walk through the pine, fir, and oak forest ascending the mule track. Arrive at the Manang headquarter district Chame and stay overnight.
Pass through the Marshyangdi river and walk through the lovely rhododendron and pine forest. Traverse through Bhartang village and witness the huge mani walls, and praying flags en route. Get a view of Pisang peak in the backdrop reaching Pisang. Overnight in Pisang.
Walk through the coniferous forest traversing Ghyaru village. En route adore the stunning views of Annapurna II and III. Enter the lovely Manang village for an overnight stay.
The acclimatization rest day is in Manang. During this day, you can hike up to Ice Lake or Gangapurna from where you see panoramic Himalayan views of Mt. Manaslu (8163m.), Mt. Annapurna II (7937m.), Annapurna III (7555m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Gangapurna (7455m.), Tilicho peak (7134m.), Pisang peak (6091m.) etc., and back to Manang .Overnight in Manang.
Walk towards the north direction and traverse Ghunsang and Yak Kharka. Get a sight of grazing yaks. Also, the view of Annapurna, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak from there. Continue to walk a little further and cross a suspension bridge and arrive at Ledar. Overnight in Ledar.
The tough trek towards Chulu West Base Camp commences. Walk on the steep trail and rugged terrain. Admire the panoramic views of snow-white mountains. Arrive at the base camp and set the camp for an overnight stay.
Another challenging day as we trek to the Chulu west high camp. With the proper guidelines of the experts, slowly climb along the ridgeline. The ascent climb is technically tough and with the right assistance, we reach High Camp. Overnight in a tented camp.
The D-day to climb Chulu West and reach its summit begins around 1-2 am. It is done considering the climatic condition. The wind gets stronger at noon time. So, gradually ascend the icy ridges following the guide instructions and using proper gears. Upon reaching the Chulu West summit, get rewarded with the heart-taking and eye-pleasing views of beautiful mountains such as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Ganesh Himal, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, and Tilicho peaks. Enjoy the awesome views and slowly descend to the High Camp. Retrace the same route and back to Ledar for an overnight stay.
Walk through the descending trail passing Kone Khola. Then, climb uphill through the narrow trail to reach Thorong Phedi. Overnight in Thorong Phedi.
The exciting day as we trek toward Muktinath via Thorong La. Ascend slowly toward one of the largest passes and get spectacular views of the Annapurna and Chhulu peak. From there, gradually descend and walk further to the forested trail. Pass some beautiful scenic places and arrive at Muktinath. Overnight in Muktinath.
In the morning, visit the sacred temple of Lord Vishnu. Also, visit the 108 water taps and the burning flame in the vicinity of the temple. Then, walk through the lush green forests of pine and fir and traverse through Thakali-inhabited settlements like Jharkot, Kagbeni, and Ekle Bhatti. Enjoy the descending walks and reach Jomsom. Overnight in Jomsom.
We take a flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. After a short flight, transfer to the hotel. Later, visit the beautiful Pokhara city and explore nearby places. Enjoy the lively nightlife. Overnight in a hotel.
After breakfast, return to Kathmandu on a tourist bus appreciating the natural scenery. Transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Simple but comfortable teahouses or lodges with basic facilities are accommodations. An additional charge must be paid for extra facilities like hot showers, Wi-Fi, charging of electronic devices, and laundry. Also, washrooms are mostly outside the teahouse or lodge, and no availability of attached bathrooms in the higher regions. Tent camping is the accommodation in the Chulu West Base Camp and High Camp.
During the entire trek, 3 meals (breakfast, lunch. dinner) a day and only breakfast in Kathmandu are provided. Foods are basic but healthy and hygienic and suitable for the trek. Cooked foods are served in the tent camp prepared by a professional cook. The main dish is Nepali Dal Bhat served with fresh green vegetables and curry. It provides energy to trek for 5/6 hours a day. The options for noodles, soup, bread, roti, and hot drinks are also there.
Drinking water is abundant from public taps. If don’t feel like drinking from public taps, purchase bottled water from the local store. Or fill up the boiled water in a water bottle in the teahouses paying an extra charge. Drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated to prevent altitude sickness. Always carry water purifying solutions for proper water treatment and to be safe.
Internet connectivity is easily accessible throughout the lower regions in the Annapurna region. Mobile Network is also stable in the lower regions. Purchase a Sim card to use the mobile data. Else, pay an additional charge to use the Wi-Fi facility from the teahouses/lodges. In higher altitudes, internet connectivity and mobile network are unstable.
The starting point for Chulu West Peak is Syange. Pass through the villages of Tal, Bagarchhap, Chame, Pisang, Manang, and Ledar to reach Chulu West Peak Base Camp and High Camp. Trekkers start the Chulu West Peak Climbing from the base of High Camp.
