Due to the hectic schedule, we were looking for a short and easy trek which is convenient for a beginner trekkers like us after researching for some days we decided to go Mardi Himal as it was one of the easiest and popular trekking destinations for beginners. After the research, I shared this idea of trekking with my friends as the trek are more enjoyable with friends but we had a hinge of doubt regarding the trek as we were new to long hikes where Mardi Himal trek is approximately 5-6 hours trek per day. So, we were 7 heads of friends and we wanted a good trekking agency to guide us throughout the journey as without a proper guidelines it’s quite risky to trek due to many accidents. After roaming around Thamel searching for an agency we selected Destination Himalaya Treks for our short trekking where we wanted one porter and a guide to our trek easier and routinized.
Kathmandu to Pokhara via Forest Camp
As planned, we gathered at Tribhuvan International Airport as we were planning to reach forest camp at the same day. The flight was about 25-30 minutes which were quite amazing for us as if we go by bus then it could take us 8 hours to reach Pokhara. After we reached Pokhara airport there was a jeep waiting for us due to which we didn’t even waste a single minute there and went directly towards Deurali. We stopped at Deurali and had an amazing Thakali food and started our trek to reach our first stop point i.e. Forest camp. We walked around 4-5 hours which was a beautiful trail with stunning views of nature along the way where we encountered wild buffaloes and birds and reached the tea house around 6 pm. Although, the tea houses were full, the hospitality were more pleasing and they also welcomed us with warm tea and amazing local dinner which made our first day of trek memorable.
Forest camp to Badal Dada
We woke up at 6 pm early in the morning as planned so we could head towards Badal dada as soon as possible. While our local breakfast was being prepared, we decided to explore the area where we found beautiful rhododendron trees with full of flowers blooming where we clicked beautiful pictures. After having local breakfast which was Tibetan bread with a curry and egg we decided to start our trek around 8 am. The steps are ascending to Badal dada which made our trek a bit challenging, but due to the beauty of the nature it made us more enthusiastic and determinant to face new challenges of the trek. One of the fun part of the trek was we came across many foreigners where we interacted and made new friends. After 4-5 hours of walking, we reached to the guest house and had mouthwatering lunch at around 1 pm. The view from Badal dada was absolutely jaw dropping as the view of mountains were clear from there. Also, there is a huge swing outside the guest house where many people were at queue to experience the swing at the top where we luckily got an opportunity to experience. The day just went by resting and exploring the area as it was raining outside.
Badal Dada to High Camp
With the sunrise we all got up to experience mesmerizing views of Mt. Machapuchhre-Fishtail (6993 meter), Mt Annapurna ranges (8091 meter), Mount Mardi and other beautiful mountains which I couldn’t recall right now as I was too lost adoring the beauty of our mountains. It was one of the top experience of nature I had in my entire life due to which we were more encouraged and excited to walk further. We had our breakfast and started our journey to our ultimate destination i.e. High camp. The hike is a steep climb which was relatively flat for a while and more ascent. We had a problem of breathing due to the low altitude and the hike was quite difficult compared to other days. As we were climbing, the views were clear of mountains and we got to encounter many people, local donkey which are used for passing the basic necessities of local people from bazaar to the high camp and beautiful rhododendron trees. after all those hurdles, we reached hotel at 12:30 pm and had amazing Daal Bhat to reboots our stamina and also got an opportunity to explore the area properly and buy some teas and dry meats as there were many tea shops over there. At the night time, we all gathered at a dining room and had an amazing chats with new people at the same big table and shared our own experiences regarding the hike which was an incredible opportunity to know new people.
High Camp to View point
We started our hike to the view point at 3 am in the morning as wanted to see sunrise view. It was quite challenging as it's steepness and darkness. We could see twinkling stars in the very blue sky-clear sky, my first wonderful feeling with stars like heart to heart connection. Finally we reached Mardi Himal View point, wow...… Heaven...… really heaven. I can’t express it with any words..... There is nothing more beautiful than this..
Overall, Mardi Himal Base Camp Treks is the best experience I had in my entire life as it was short and simple where I got an opportunity to explore the beauty of nature and serenity. We got to see beautiful villages, experience local culture, mesmerizing view of mountains and had amazing local foods. Although we were a beginner, due to the support of incredible guide and porter our journey was amazing filled with adventures and joys. The hike exceed our expectations and we are looking forward for more trekking in upcoming days.
