Langtang Valley Trek

The Langtang Valley Trek begins after one day bus journey to Syabru Besi from Kathmandu, bus ride was a bit scary, a bit adventure as we had to travel through narrow road and hundreds of meters of vertical cliff, but it’s a nice experience travelling by local bus with local people in the bus.

We started our actual trek from Syabrubensi after passing a long suspension bridge, it’s easy hike to the Pahiro through Langtang Khola, forests of Oak, Pine trees and others sub-tropical vegetation.
The trail from Pahiro to Bamboo Lodge was absolutely fine, wide walking trail, towering trees and to the left we could see “Beehives” hanging at vertical rock safely and none could get honey out of it. From Bamboo lodge to Lama Hotel was so difficult climbing and the temperature hot and humid, Today it took about 9 hours to reach Lama Hotel including our lunch time at Bamboo Lodge. Trekking from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village was not easy, more uphill hiking and sometimes we walked on flatland. But we enjoyed our trekking as we passed beautiful forest, farmers mostly women working on the field, in the meantime could see Langtang Lirung the highest mountain in this Himalaya region.

We slept overnight at rehabilitated Langtang Village which was completely demolished by devastating Earthquake in 2015, the epicenter was in neighboring district Gorkha. This village is so beautiful where we walked through in the evening.

It’s easy hiking from this village to Kyanjing Gompa and took about 3 hours. The mountain scenery including Langtang Lirung and glaciers were so appealing what made our trekking joyful.

We used our spare day in Kyanjing Gompa by uphill excursion to kyanjin Ri view point. Wowwww…. Superb view.. Picturesque Valley, Tremendous Himalayan Peaks in surrounding, Glaciers, Moraines and beautifully settled Kyanjing Village was inspiring view from the view point.

We found Tamang culture and Buddhist followers in the lower area of Langtang which made us so impressed. They have a special tradition that they mostly prefer to live in the top of the Hill, maybe it’s symbolic that they want to be on top. The way of farming, their livelihood and helping each other are so inspirational. Villages like Thulo Bharku, Sano Bharku and Syabru Villages are inhabited by this ethnic. The Lhosar (New Year) and Buddha Purnima (Lord Buddha born day) are main festival for these people.

Tibetan Buddhism influenced people remain in the Upper Area of the Langtang Region such as Langtang Village, Kyanjing Gompa and more villages towards north. They speak Tibetan language with each other, old aged people can’t understand and speak Nepali language either. Farming is their major profession but young people either go to Tibet for working or they work in the capital city Kathmandu of Nepal.
We had entirely trekked through the conserved area 1710 square kilometer. The Langtang National Park established in 1976 which is covered in Rasuwa and Sindhupalchwok district of Nepal.
