Bardia Jungle Safari is the best way to explore the wilderness of Bardia National Park, the largest national park in southern Nepal (Terai region). Covering an area of 968 sq. km, Bardia National Park is home to endangered animals which include the Bengal tiger, wild Asian elephant, one-horned rhinoceros, blackbuck, gharials, Gangetic river dolphins, etc, and endangered birds like Sarus Crane, Bengal florican and many others. This national park is only the place in Nepal where you can spot Gangetic river dolphins and blackbuck antelopes. Being not much different from Chitwan National Park, this national park is often described as what Chitwan was in the past before it became overcrowded by tourists. Bardia National Park is still not crowded and is considered one of Nepal’s best-kept secrets. The park is mostly covered with Sal forest and also a mixture of riverine forest, grassland, and savanna.
Different activities like elephant rides, jeep safari, and jungle walks can be done to explore Bardia National Park. Elephant rides are generally preferred by many to explore the jungle. But some enjoy Jeep Safari more because it takes them to less trodden areas inside the jungle. A jungle walk should be done with an experienced guide who can guide you safely giving necessary information. Another activity you can do is canoeing on the Rapti or Narayani rivers. Canoeing offers you to spot varieties of birds as well as there is a rare chance of spotting Gangetic river dolphins in rivers. You also get to visit picturesque villages around the park where you get to know about the unique culture and tradition of the Tharu community.
